Ziqi graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a BS in Mathematics. As an undergrad, she studied the mathematics behind supercoiling of DNA plasmids using topology and differential geometry. Growing up in Irvine, CA, Ziqi was fortunate to be surrounded and motivated by her passionate peers that devote themselves in the field of biomedical research. Joining The Johns Hopkins University and the Xiao Lab, Ziqi seeks opportunities to conduct interdisciplinary research that bridges mathematics and biomedicine. In the Xiao Lab, her research focuses on understanding the overall E. coli genome spatialization and the role of supercoiling in gene regulation.
